Guest Photos: Pit Vipers of Maharashtra

Maharashtra is home to two species of pit vipers. Both of these species are only found in the areas surrounding Sahyadris along the west coast. Of these Bamboo pit viper (Trimeresurus gramineus) is found all they way from the Dangs to south. While Malabar pit viper (Trimeresurus malabaricus) is found from Mahabaleshwar to south.
